Just been told that an old friend was killed racing a sidecar in Belgium at the weekend. Roger Dixon was a top sidecar racer for many years back in the 70s & 80s and had started racing a classic outfit again this year.He was a great guy who enjoyed the social side as much as the racing.
Anyone know any more, please let me know.
RIP Dicko.

Sad news Reg - and as Gus said, even though the Guv'nor called time on him early, at least he would've been in a place where he was very happy.

Reminds me of a thread some time back when Huws wife was thinking about a bike, bikeing is a great thing, but sometimes there's a hell of a price to pay.

Reg,
Roger died in hospital following an accident during the final practice session at Jéhonville . Pasenger Paul Appleby remains in hospital, his condition unclear but I believe a broken collarbone.
Roger was racing his BMW ex-ODell outfit.

There's a special gallery here:

very sad.
Though I never knew him, he had a reputation that preceded him. Big name and big presence in the slidey community.

Harry,
thanks very much for the information and especially the photos. Hope Appy recovers OK,although his loss will be great,as they had raced together for many years.
