Had the pleasure (?!) of collecting a job in Wantage this afternoon to be delivered in Milton Keynes. I can quite honestly say I've never seen rain like it. The drains in Wantage could'nt deal with it and all the man hole covers had been forced out of their holes in the road. Sewage was floating about....NICE!
I went back up the A417 onto the A34.The slip road off the roundabout was about 3 feet deep. The road between Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard had turned into a lake. I've never seen so many stranded cars. Saw 2 VW Polo's within about a mile of each other.....electrics must be somewhere clever on them!
A few of the floods I rode through were up to the engine bars on my Deauville and I could feel the current of the water pulling the bike across the road.
AS per normal, all the car drivers made something out of nothing; sitting there looking petrified and astonished as I fearlessly skippered my trusty boat through the stormy seas.
When I got home, I found my right Daytona was full of lake. Not sure if the water came over the top of the boot when I was paddling. But my left was bone dry.
Yours moistly
Salty Seadog (aka Bailey).
