Just got back from Garmisch on my R1200S

I also popped down to the south of France on the way back
I did 2300 miles and I have to say what a brilliant bike it is. Super stable on the boring bits and blinding when I got to the twisty bits. The seat was all day comfortable, I got a bit of an ache in my shoulders occasionally but I was riding for up to 10 hrs a day. All in all, I'm very impressed. And it averaged 60mpg!

Impossible
A 1200s can tour? Preposterous!

Hi Paul
Nice one! How was the tailpack?
Did you take any pictures of your trip? It'd be good to see them.

Hi Paul,
Like your style & looking forward to meeting up soon to hear all about it.
Of course the Colgate ones are the best!

Tailpack was spot on

The straps needed tightening every now and then but it felt totally secure. Completely waterproof too, and it needed to be! I even got soaked in the South of France
I have got some pictures, what's the best way of showing them?
Regarding the R1200S as a touring bike, I actually found it more comfortable than my 1150GS.
We'll have to get a few more going down to Garmisch next year as I had a cracking time. It felt very depressing getting off the ferry at Portsmouth to be greeted by speed camera signs, too much traffic and crappy road surfaces

Get them hosted and then provide a link, or paste the URLs in.
There's a guide here:

Thanks, stoney.
By the way, what are you replacing your Quest with? My Quest locked up on me at Interlaken and after that I couldn't get it to work and had to use a map

Thanks Steve, but I tried the reset and still no joy

I'm sending it back to Garmin for repair.
The pictures aren't up to much but I did take a few of the Le Mans race bike and there are the usual 'pics of bike next to mountain vista'

I used to get the "grey screen of death" on my Quest, but the latest software update appears to have fixed that.
the reset sequence is to simultaneously press:
ZOOM IN / OK / POWER buttons.
(I wrote it in indelible ink at the back of the antennae)

I've gone for the Zumo with the Scala Rider headset - its fantastic! The 3D mapping is excellent and much easier to use and the Bluetooth function is brilliant.
