I've just aquired a two part Zach Y piece and some dry-break fuel pipe connectors.

I've browsed previous post, but I'm slightly confused. How much bodywork do I need to strip to fit the pipe? Is exhaust gasket paste needed between the Y and the standard cans, or just copaslip? I've got new header gaskets and spare allen screws. I've been soaking the screws in plus gas. Am I correct in thinking that the once the 4 header screws are released, the only things holding the systm on are the 2 rubber bushes either side of the cat, and the bayonet pins under the saddle, or are there other bolts that need releasing? Is there anything else I should do, need or watch out for?

Similarly, I want to be able to remove and replace the fuel tank, so I've got the connectors from M/Works. Are they directional? Is there a particular place that's best to cut the existing pipe? Do the connectors need lubricating? I'm not overly impressed with their construction, especially for the price. I've got the proper crimp clips. How tight do you pinch them? I've got a crimp tool from work; it looks suspiciously like the thing you use to pull nails out of floorboars.

Ah well, I suppose its all part of the bonding process.

you may have a bracket on the cat which bolts into engine. You're right to release tension on headers you may also find it useful to support cat e.g. to take the weight off the bolts into the cat fittings when you undo them

Only cut a small section out of the fuel lines to fit the connectors.
The best thing to do is to fit one in the reverse direction to the other, so you cannot mix them up when refitting. You end up with a male and female on the tank and a male and female left on the lines.
As regards crimping them up, I actually used a pair nail pincers (with care) and it worked fine.
