Rear luggage rack?

Hi All

In addition to the track day dreams, my girlfriend n' me are planning a trip to France / Germany in July. A quick trial run to Devon a couple of weekends back revealed that we could do with extra luggage space...got the BMW panniers with the bike.

Could anyone advise me who does rear racks for R1100S'. I have seen a couple of pics of bikes with them fitted but have not had much luck finding one....Givi?

Many Thanks

Simon

I have the GIVI rack and it's pretty good, if a little ugly  I got mine because I was commuting out of London in rush hour, and I needed to carry about 52L of crap

I find that even a large box doesn't interfere with the handling at all, and my average fuel economy is still 45mpg+ (although I do ride like a granny). I hunted round the web for the fitting kit, and ended up getting it for a lot less than any shop I've been to. Then I bought the box from eBay - they're silly money new. As far as I remember, the box (unused) was £80, the fitting kit £60.

I know that some people don't like topboxes, but I have removed the rails and have the sidecases stashed; they're just impractical for my riding. I might fit them on for holidays. The other aspect is that my gf feels a lot more secure on the bike with the box fitted.

If I ever wanted to do a track day, it's about 30mins work to completely remove the GIVI stuff and the pass footpegs. So no big deal.

This is a pic of the bike when it was absolutely filthy:

Like Lloyd says, Ventura - excellent bit of kit and works well with or without panniers.

Hi Basil...
I have just read your thread and i might be the answer to your dreams... I bought a brand new givi rack and plate last october for my 2004 R1100s and then never fitted it because i thought i would wait till the summer... Then did a bad thing...took the bike in for a service in december and took out a R1200s...Anyway 6 hours later drove home on my spanking new red and silver baby, which by the way givi are not making a rack for, and also £9000 lighter... so if your looking to buy 1 thats never been on a bike let me know as its going on ebay in the next couple of weeks as ive been waiting for the season to get going before i sell a long list of stuff..

I'll look out for you, .. i've been relegated to a crapped-out CBF600 at the moment, .... too much TLC required by both of my Beemers, .. but once the rain stops, .... I will write a list of what I need to think about doing to them.

Enjoy the new R12,.. hope it gets sunny for you (Not even remotely jealous,.. not, not not :-)
