Which Tyres for Boxercup ?
I've had a quick search as I know this must be a regular question to be asked. But I can't seem to find the answer
I need to replace the tyres on my 03 BCR.
The bike is currently fitted with Dunlops 208's which I don't like.
I'm thinking along the lines of BT014s or Pilot Power/Road 2CTs.
What do you guys recommend ?
I want good grip rather than longevity.

I haven't tried the new M3 version - they may be better

Thanks Gromit.
Which model of Abba stand is that ?
Ref tyres,
The prev owner said he hated the OE Metzelers. He fitted Dunlop 208s about 3 years ago and the bike has only done about 1000 miles since.
I don't like the feel they give.
They seem to give steady grip and then suddenly tip you over, and thye are not squared off.
I don't know what to do now.
I was probably going to get Pilot Power 2CTs,but everyone seems to have their own ideas about what is best.
I need a stand though !!

CJS - it's just the Abba 'Superbike' stand which is available from most bike bits stores (M&P do them). You can then get the adaptors to fit the BCR. Costs about 100 quid all in.
Failing that, get yourself one of these:

'Yankee 2' bike lift - approx 100 quid again plus it lets you get the bike completely off the floor once you've removed the bellypan (about a 1 min job start to finish).

Looking at my BCR,the right hand side doesn't have the same pivot point as the left side as shown in your pic.

Chris - that's coz the BCR's got mega-long suspenders (long front shock with GS sliders/long rear shock and short torque arm) meaning the back wheel's much closer to the ground. Also, because your bike sits lower, the ABBA lift is at a lower angle when in its 'start' position, hence the more heave-ho require to lift the bike.windychris wrote:Dear Mr Gromit.
I bought an ABBA stand recently. Looks to me like your back wheel is only an inch or two off the deck. Mine is a full 8 inches and it's a massive heave to get it up and over, as it were.
What am I doing wrong?!
CJS - not sure what you mean re the pivot point? Take it you mean the swingarm pivot? If so, all 11S's are identical in this respect - Abba supply the bushings/adaptor to let the stand fit. The r/h one is bolted to the bike permanently.

Gromit,
Thanks for the advice.
I is fick !!! OK,thanks.I'll have a look back at their website.
I went to my local tyre specialist and they looked at the BCR in complete bafflement.
They said thay could probably manage by jacking it up on the rear pillion pegs.
Even my dealer hasn't got a specialist stand-muppets.
I took my bellypan off anyway,as I need to have it resprayed (bit fiddly to get it around and off the side stand).
I might pop back tomorrow and see if they can jack it up somehow now the belly pan is off.
Cheers.[/quote]

If the pan's off, just place a trolleyjack under the r/h side of the ally frame (the bit where the rear bush for the bellypan screws in - this is also where the centrestnad, where fitted, bolts on) when the bike's on its sidestand. Put a cable tie/whatever round the front brake lever, and up she goes on the jack - it's surprisingly stable. You only need the wheel to be an inch off the ground at most.Capt Jack Sparrow wrote:
