power to a power commander

This question is to those who have fitted a PCIII.
From earlier posts I see that some bikes have starting issues because of the current draw and that the work around is to wire it directly to a different power source. I am planning on having one fitted and should I get them to wire it as normal or choose a different source and if so which one?
