I'm considering buying an 2002 Boxer Cup Rep. Can anyone shed any light on what the spec differences are between the standard 's' and the BCR?
Thanks

Who gives flying f*** what the spec differences are? The BCR looks the dogs doodahs, especially in the original Randy M colour scheme.

I have to say that the 2002 BCR paint scheme is much more appealing than the white, red and blue.

I don't suppose the BCR comes with a different set of cans does it? Wishful thinking I'm sure!

There is a school of thought that an "SS" with a race pipe and a smattering of carbon is just as fast as a BCR and a lot more stealthy. Less pimpy and probably less likely to get nicked / noticed by plod.

Personally, although I love the looks of the BR (especially the original UK special edition with the union flag bellypan - drool) I think I'd rather "walk softly but carry a big stick" on a subtly improved SS.

BCR = R1100SS in a fancy suit. A tricked up SS (chip and Vandelinde exhaust) will make nearly 110HP. Add in some Hypro shocks and you have a damn fine bike.

ALL R1100s engines are exactly the same. (OK some are twin spark however felk all power advantage). Any of em with the same pipes /power commander / filter etc etc will or should get approx the same power. An SS or BCR has no more power than any other S. The only one that may have a very slight advantage out of the shop is the latest BCR, as it came with laser end cans.

Quoted 98 @ crank standard, all of em

It may make just under 100 rwhp if you get a good one

Mine showed exactly 100hp on the dyno with SJ air filter, induct,Power Commanderand an exhaust some what different from the norm, the important bit is how you get that power not how much, cuz non of e'm are going to show much more without going into the motor.

Dyno: Standard bike before mods. Power at the crankshaft: 97.8hp / 9.9kgm.

With Vandelinde exhaust, engine chip and K&N max power increased to 109.5hp @7546rpm at the crankshaft with torque up to 11.3kgm.

Dyno showed 100.9hp at the rear wheel with torque 10.4kgm @ 5925 rpm. Pulls like a train in any gear !

Boxer Cup colours are in my opinion as appealing as a shell suit. They detract from the lines of the bike. Any with more than one colour look naff and the bike mags were right to slag them off when they came out. Solid colours I think are the best (the darker the better), they make the bike look a little less like a rowing boat from the front. Beauty though, is after all in the eye of the beholder and if YOU like it, then that's all that matters.

I have to disagree with you there cc old bean, Whilst I agree that the front side view is very boat like, I think it is the plain colours that accentuate this, Mine is (proper) red, although I think the rear end side view is stunning in plain colours. but as I've stated before (to the point of boredom for regular trixters...sorry) I think the Mamola BCR rep is visually stunning, probably because the chequers disguise the all at sea (geddit) styling.
Of course this is just my opinion, and I'm half pissed at this point :D

Crankshaft power/torque means diddly squat. I stand by my original statement.

My opinion also. :)

As for real world horse power, IMO the S has plenty of usable power and torque for everyday use and the odd holigan around Wales /Scotland /Yorkshire Dales (delete as appropriate). I know the S doesn't have the manic performance of a litre jap 4 but I have a wife and 2 young children who like me to come home at the end of the days ride. What is the point of having all that power if you can't use it? I wonder how many of the 2007 GSXR's with the switchable engine maps will spend most of their time in 'Wet' (120bhp) mode all year round?? The owner having the cudos of having the latest GT nutter bast**d bike but able to ride it with sensible power  Personally, I find the S a very satisfying (albeit heavy) bike to hussle around on good A and B's and when I get where i'm going I can just sit back and look at it with a smile on my face.

If you want to race Fireblades, R1's, Gixers, etc away from the lights then buy one of those

That said, I'd like to have a go on a blade/gixer/R1 just to see what they are really like
