R1100SS on 54 plate, Remus Y plus twin pipes, junked CAT. Tickover lumpy plus when accelerating hard or running high mph feels as if its misfiring. Going for high speed overtakes a bit of a lottery!!! HEEELLLLPPP

Hi
Check that the cables going to the throttle bodies are seated correctly. If so,i would then check the plugs/leads etc etc.
When was it last serviced and tuned?

Hi Gus
All checks done.Plugs changed at service (June 06, Prestige, Bexleyheath - no longer BMW dealership) I dont think it was road tested which is when the problem is most noticable. Is booked in to South London BMW Caterham next week to try and resolve, is there anything I should ask them to concentrate on.

What Gus said, have you checked both ends of the cables ? The other end is in the bowden cable divider I'd checked they're not snagged, also throttle bodies balanced ??? and dare I say check the air filter and is it the correct plugs ????

Thanks for all the info, cables running free and true, correct plugs replaced at service, throttle balancing assumed done at service, air filter replaced at service. Could we be talking 'power commander' or similar maybe re-chipping?

throttle bodies balance; contaminated fuel; electrical fault.

Keith, two words
Assume nothing. Check it all yourself, only way unless you're 100% confident in your dealer.

Even these days 'tis not unknown to get a dodgy plug out of the packet.
A dealer will not do a throttle balance unless you ask them specifically. They should have done a roadtest purely for safety reasons - yours and to avoid any litigation against them. If the problem has occurred straight after the service then it is something they have changed or adjusted. If it has taken a few days to surface then you can start looking in other directions.
How many miles ?

Cor Baby Thats Really Free thanks to a new mentor (Brian Giles, Pembury, Kent. ex BM and Kwacker 2stroke racer, L&C Mech etc) The Horses are back and front wheel pawing the air again - poxy arcing rh coil lhs just about to do the same due to minor corrosion because of keeping bike clean and letting water 'lay' down the gap two fins past h/gasket.
Now where did I put those super stickies:D
