Got a 2001 ss, when speedo hits 135mph everything comes to a stop. WHY????? :?

She's not on the rev limiter, I've changed to a performance chip, K&N filter, performance plugs, dumped the cat and still 135 is the lot.

Is there a limiter on speed? can't be on revs, exhaust sensor?
come on guys, I'm told if I don't get sorted here then I'm snookered!

My 3000-mile-old '04 BCR wouldn't pull over 130 when I first got it. Remedy? Take it out on some long runs and give it a sound thrashing.

A couple of weeks ago, with around 4500 miles up, it pulled to the limiter in top.

From having had experience of more than a couple of Oilhead Boxers, it would appear that they run better when given a good seeing-to on a regular basis.

What richard said(gromit).
Dont ride it to achieve maxium MPG.
Let the bugger redline a few times and all should be well.
That said,i take it the bike is in good tune?

Oh! boys.. thrash it a couple of times..it gets a good seeing to everytime
I climb on board!! ( even on the commute to work!)
She's got 12,500 miles on her now, have had this problem since I got her.

I ride with a mate who's got a VFR800, and I HATE  to let him pull away from me at 135...it's the only chance he gets mind, boxer outguns him any where, any gear...

Are you, by any chance, a 'big-boned' gentleman with all the aerodynamic characteristics of a barn? :laughing6:

Perhaps it is you, not the bike, that is the limiting factor?

Take care if you use the same time and route on your commuting thrash, it only takes on member of the Masonic persuasion with a hot line to the local Cheif Constable to get a speed trap set up just for you.
Long termers on here will remember a similar scenario with Tony Smith, formerly of this parish.
