Post by PBBoxer »

Anyone else having this problem? Despite checking the box to remember my login, I have to input my details every time now.

It's been doing this to me for weeks - bloody annoying too. Log-in remains as long as I don't close my browser - as soon as I do I have to re-log-in. This site's the only one which I have to do this on - all the others are fine. :?

Me too

Also when I log in I then have to go back to my home page and then back to Boxertrix to be recognised as being loged in

Hmmm...

If I open up the site in the Mozilla Firefox browser, it remembers log-in no problem.

No probs with my Mac running Safari.
I normally get prompted to enter my pasword about once a month...don't know if this is via the browser or via the site/software.

Hmmmm. I upgraded the board software last week, which might have something to do with it... I'll have a fiddle around and see if there is any "fix" for this problem.

The software remembers your login details using a cookie called "phpbb2mysql_data". If you can find this on your PC, try deleting it and logging in again. That might just cure your problem. Sounds like it's just Microsoft Internet Explorer users having this problem...

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

OK,

Apparently the latest version of the software is a bit more fussy about the cookie configuration settings. I'm going to update the configuration settings to solve the problem. The net effect of this is that everyone will lose their auto login ability temporarily, but if you delete your old cookie and login once more it should remember your account details if you tick the "login automatically" checkbox.

Your looking for a cookie called "phpbbsmysql_data" to delete. It might be filed under "boxertrix.com" in your cookie list. Once you have deleted it, you need to close all of your browser windows then open up a new one and connect to the site again. Once you have logged in and ticked the "login automatically" checkbox, your problems should be over... until the next upgrade

Sorry!

I've made the change now and it seems to work for me. Can any one else who has had this problem confirm whether they are working OK now? I have change the cookie name from "phpBB2mysql_data" to a slightly more meaningful "Boxertrix_forum".

Cheers,

Paul

wouldn't it be an idea to have this file named something Boxertrix specific? Just to prevent it being overwritten by another phpBB2 site?
