eBike Insurance
Ok then here goes. eBike insurance got our attention by its low premiums - I am now putting them to the ultimate test i.e making a claim. So far so good. Phoned them this morning and the guy was sympathetic to the claim and filled in an electronic claim while I was on the phone. He then said that if the bike was with a pre-approved repairer they could authorise repairs straight away with the repairer over the phone. I had the bike recovered to the original supplying dealership which isn't one of their authorised repairers. However, he said that if they do a full quote and fax it to eBike they will consider it. If it is an economic repair they will authorise and if it is not economical to repair then they will send an engineer to assess. When I asked how long this would be he said we could have someone looking at the bike by Tuesday next week. So far I have been impressed with them and their service. As this unfolds I shall add further updates in relation to this insurance company. I am happy so far.
eBike paid out fine after my S was nicked. It was a bit of a pain as there seemed to be so many parties involved, but they paid out okay. Haggled once on the price and got it raised by£300. That's just normal I guess. So in my opinion, service was no better or worse than any others I've had dealings with. They've still got my business for the Blade.

OK - I am now lost for words. Whenever I have dealt with insurance companies in the past I have always had to phone them at least once a week to help 'move things along' and it has taken 6 - 8 weeks to get matters settled. So imagine my surprise when I get a phonecall this morning from eBike chasing me up for the quote for damage / repairs to my bike. I stated that it would be on its way tomorrow and the helpful person said that the sooner they get it the sooner the in house engineer can give authorisation for repair / write off. She said that they wanted to get me back on the road as soon as possible. When I said that I was unlikely to be able to ride for a number of weeks and so I wasnt in a rush she said well at least you can have a bike in the garage ready for when you can ride again or money in the bank to replace it!! You can now see why I am lost for words!!!
So far so good - if they carry on like this then eBike will be getting my business again.

Sounds great Keith - good to hear some insurers are actually bothered about good press/repeat business.
I phoned my insurers on sat morning - their 'out of hours' service (they only open mon-fri
) stated that they would ring me back within 4 working hours, after me leaving a message with all my details etc. They haven't contacted me yet after 5 days despite me leaving a further message for them to do so.
Needless to say I will NOT be renewing my policy with them.

So there is also an eBike update now. The accident happened on 4th May and was reported to the insurance company on the 5th May. Today the 22nd May the repairs were authorised. And it was them chasing me and my repairers for the quote and not me chasing them for authorisation!! So thats 17 days and the matter has been dealt with. All down to Suzuki to supply the parts and the repairer to fix it now.
