Mr Gromit is the inventor of the site name. Those soppy Bike boys can't even spell it properly.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

What I find strange is the conclusion where he claims (haven't got he exact words in front of me) that 'Current R1100S will have nothing to complain about' - tha tmay be me paraphrasing it, but it was my lasting interpretation.

From a performance point of view, yeah a few more horsies would be nice, but then he's already knocked it for rumbling and vibrating like a cement mixer, more than the 1100.

Seems most if not everyone on here that's tried it is not that impressed, with most missing the practicality of the 1100.

However, has anyone else noticed the similarities in side profile of the 11S and the F800? To me it's like someone traced round the 11S's profile when designing the 800 and said 'make the engine fit that'.

I popped over to S*C in the c*r this morning; it was p*ssing down so thought I'd nip over for a look-see at the 12S and 800.

Reckon the 800 is just adorable - it's not quite as small as I first envisaged and to sit on is certainly comfy with plenty of legroom. Appears well screwed together - fasteners look good, and plenty of nice touches like the soft plastic frame inserts to stop the rider's knees scratching the paint etc.

The 12, to me, felt like a tall 11S. Doing the rocking side-side thang it didn't feel especially light either.

On first, in-showroom, impressions the 800 would be the bike I'd choose out of the 2. The 12S's only advantage would be its extra firepower - fine if you want it, but I'd bet the 800 is just as much if not more fun. The seat on the 12 did feel extremely comfortable and well-shaped - an improvement over the 11 certainly.

Got a demo booked on them for next tues or weds (I'll pick the day with the best weather). Had a really good natter with Tim who reckoned in real terms, up to 100mph certainly, the 800 will give the 1100 a good run for its money.

I tried to start the F800 when it was already running.

I agree, you may as well buy a Honda V4 for characterless biking
