R1200S is Here! Aint she "Gaaawgeous"!

Post by julian »

I was going home past BMW Park Lane and saw the 'Colgate' S in the window and a black 'un in the show room. I hadn't seen any of the R1200S lash-ups at the shows so was pleasantly suprised to see the new model in the flesh this evening for the first time.

Went in had a sit and a bounce for about 20 minutes. Not as pretty or aesthetically balanced as the R11S but nowhere near as minging as reports made out. It looks like hybrid of the R11S with an R90S.

It's quite neat overall and if it wasn't for the price I'd certainly like one - I don't know if it is 6 grand better than my R11S.

Not to keen on:
- Clocks. Think 1970s teasmaid/alarm clock. Should have been full on digital
- standard clutch and brake resevoirs
- the tupperware is a bit thin in places

I'm not too bovvered about pillions or luggage so I'd say the jobs a good'un and give it 8/10 although my crystal ball is still showing an R1100s and a KTM 950SM in my virtual garage.

Yes would agree with you. I looked at one in the dealer over here last Tuesday and can say that I would love to buy a new one, but, with only 100 bhp in France and a seat a few inches higher than my 1100S, I won't bother.
