Fuel consumption

On a 1999, snorkel; K&N; full street Laser - Y & silencer; stock chip; lambda removed; cat code plug removed; EMC shocks and barely legal 010's.
I just filled up; 15.5 litres to the vent hole mod half way up the filler neck and got 145 miles on the standard tank. Five miles of fuel warning light.
Most of that was, ahem, 'spirited' riding; by-passes, country lanes and some slow town bits.
The consumption has got really frugal ever since I fitted the carbon tank panel. What a buy!

That's about right certainly from my experience, doesn't really matter my riding style, it's hard to get it much below 50 mpg

Interestingly, that's about exactly what I get on my absolute standard 2000 (actually, probably 99) model.
I am intrigued by the 5 miles of fuel warning light, though. Mine comes on after about 120 miles, and I normally don't fill up until about 140 - 150 miles. Does anyone know if this can be adjusted?

The good old days e'h!!! if i really paste mine can get the warning light on at 145/150 with with still another 50 miles in the tank!!!

Just had a two week bonding session with the bike, I bourght it in Nov so I have not done many miles until last week when the car blew its crankshaft seal on the M5 at 80+. Subsequently I have done about 1200 miles in the last 2 weeks, I have drilled the fuel filler and I have been getting 140-145 before the light and filling up at about 150. I have been putting in 15 litres which I reckon is about 43 per gallon but on a bit of a mad ride home i got it to come on after 110 miles but it was worth it. The more time I have spent on it the more i like it.

Like I said before, I'm interested that everyone else has the fuel light come on with about 3 litres left in the 18 litre tank. My fuel light comes on with about 6 litres left and always has done. I just thought they all did that. Does anyone know if this can be adjusted?

Sounds likw the sensor is out of position, I wouldn't overly worry about TBH. If you're
really bothered then you could always remove the tank, strip out the pump/filter/level assembley and re-align it ( bend ) personally sounds like too much work for no real benefit, but then I am a lazy sod !

No, you're right. That is way too much work. It's not THAT much of a problem.

Todays MPG = 47 !! I filled with 163 miles on the odometer, light came on at 142.
Things have got this good ever since I fitted the very noisy street Laser.

Ok OK.
Enough is enough!
Anymore talk about i can get this many miles to the tank or i got 0.5 % better MPG this week and your find yourselves swimming with the fishes!All courtesy of the brummie mafia.
You can run but you cant hide.
We will hunt you down.
Some off will even go as far as 150 miles to get our man,others even further.

You want to talk easy to clean,lower depreciation,no radiater,no chain to ajust,better to ride in the winter, then give you those,but when it comes down to the nitty gritty!!! not a prayer,when it comes to covering ground it's the world champ!!,but of course it about as stock as my S!!!
