Side stand length

Post by iandunn1100ss »

I have an s with ohlins on and the adjustable torque on its shortist setting it now leans over way to far. I have ordered a boxercup stand from darren at motorworks but if this is still not long enough i have toyed with the idea of getting a section cut and welded in to the stand. Has anyone done this and if so was it strong enough and where did you get it done. Please help

Best way to extend the existing stand would be to weld a 3-4 cm leg & foot to the existing foot. And while mucking about with the side stand, it's worth taking it off the frame completely and repacking the moving bits with grease. There is a ferrule bush which wears out and causes it to go all sloppy if the lube runs dry.
