I'm a bit peeved to see that i've stripped a rear 02 tyre since christmas. Recon i've done about 4k on it, but this is winter miles. What am i gonna get in summer?!

What pressures you running??

My S used to eat rears when using the BMW-recommended pressures. Used Bridgestone's (ie 36f/42r) and got loads more life out of them.

If you are using 36/42...

when you say 'stripped', do you just mean you've put a bloody great strip down the middle?

I'd expect 6-7 out of an 02 based on previous experience but I don't tend to give it full bollocks in a straight line, I prefer to do it out the corners

BT 020 I take it?

My BT020's are just coming upto needing replacing just when I got the service due so they done 6k miles, however I'm going to drag them out to 7k as it'll be an expensive month otherwise

I've been running 36/42, so no gain to get there.
Squiting the beast out of bends is what it's all about, but there's just not that many bends on the a46 / m50 / a449! So although there's certainly not a really flat section in the middle, it has generally stripped the middle out.
I recon it's probably down to my weight. Although not remotely beefcake, my height gives me a 104kg / 16 stone mass for the poor beast to lug about. I spose extra weight must be directly proportional to tyre wear.
Mebe a bit of moderation with the throttle will help (Like that'll happen :? . I just love that torque too much!)

Can see i'll miss my laverda's 130 section, bias belted, £85, 5k mile tyres  And it's not like i ride much faster on the beemer.

Ho Hum.
