2004 R1150RT

Postby SP250 » Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:54 pm

Been asked to sort out a mates 1150RT for him, it has been standing for 6 years without use, so needs a good check over.
I will list all the stuff needing replacement for him like battery, oils, pads, wheel bearings etc.
I have the Haynes book and the online workshop manuals which cover my R1100S.
Are there any major differences in oil grades or capacities for engine, box and final drive I ought to be aware of before I start draining them?
Any gotchas on removing RT bodywork as well, or digging out the battery?

Cheers chaps for any help you can give me.

Don't forget this : if the battery has been out long enough for the capacitors in the computer's memory to discharge, you may need to do a "TPS Re-Learn"

Key on but engine not running, slowly twist the throttle from full closed to full open maybe 3 times.

Key off.

(1100 / 1150 : almost the same bodywork / screws / etc. )
Have a nice day !
