Here in Queensland, Australia, we dont have an annual test like an MOT.
Nothing. You can see some really Jalopies around, particuly out west.
I point this out because of the comment where people may pull an old bike out of the shed and then ride it - just because its an old bike doesnt mean it could be less road worthy than a 3 year old vehicle (when I lived in the UK MOT requirement started when a car was 3 years old)(is that still the case)

I personally don’t believe the MOT exemption should have been approved.
It’s just an excuse for classic car and bike owners to run vehicles that aren’t safe. I appreciate there are many talented and skilled enthusiasts out there, but there are just as many who haven’t got a clue. Most classic vehicle owners I’ve spoken to prefer to have an mot as a guide to where their vehicle is at.
And yes, we only have an MOT after the vehicle is 3 years old still.

Only another 28 years, and my R12S will be road tax free and MoT exempt...
...and I'll be 95

i agree with having a MOT
other states here in Aus do, just QLD doesnt.
Its fine by me, can run on condition maintenance, but I do actually think it should be in place
