Tyres

Post by dave the german »

looking for some Boxertrix wisdom - I've been searching Oponeo for some Pilot power tyres - I'm finding what appears to be identical tyres for different prices - I can find 2CT , which I know are dual compound but also Pilot Power, no difference in the details i.e. letters on the sidewall but different prices - only a couple of quid in it but what's the difference?

Probably need a bit more info Dave as from memory Pilot Power are 2CT, what I can recommend are Dunlop Roadsmart 3, don't know the difference in price (I payed £240 fitted) but they are superb, much quicker steering than my previous PR4 and very confidence inspiring, wet riding is imho better also, I'm very happy, but what would be nice is a good fast DRY ride without luggage.

From memory, sometimes the prices are a few quid difference because one batch is an older production run....or its down to delivery time, cheaper for standard, pricier for faster.

Cheers Phil, I'm deciding to stay with Pilot Power as that's what the bike came with and I've been really happy with them. Oponeo have Pilot Power 2ct and also Pilot Power - it's the Pilot Power (without ct) that have the two different prices for what appear to be the same tyres. Pete, I did wonder whether it was for an older production run. Going to give them a ring and see what they say. Thanks for the replies - I'll report back!!

I'm on Avon Storm 3Dxm and the front is almost done at 5000 miles. Looks like the rear might make 5500.

Was hoping for more but it's riding style, I thrash it and brake hard.

I think of the current options I'll go for Dunlops RS3 on my ST soon. They seem to get good comments everywhere from users and from the m/c press.

Second that, amazing tyres. Were top tested last year by most magazines including Fast Bikes. For whatever that is worth :)

Just to add I've fitted the Metzeler Roadtec 01's on my R1100s after running Bridgestone BT30's and must say they are brilliant in feel and grip. The Bridgestone's were not bad but the front tyre wore almost as quick as the rear.

Looks as though the new Avon Sprint ST's are going to be forcing their way into the equation now too ?
Good early reports of the Brits.
