Shock factory by Mike capon
Hi guys,
Has anyone fitted or know of anyone who has wilbers ecoline shocks before? Wondering what the feedback is.
Got chance of a pair brand new for £496 delivered.
Cheers,
Rich

Hi Mitch,
Yeah I have looked, and I'm considering them. However the more I read into the shock factory the more I like them. The specs on them, to me, seem better than wilbers. Oil and gas separate for instance, compression and rebound adjustment, fancy bearings (like wilbers) etc.
Seem a close match for the maxton nr4 shock to be honest.
I'm awaiting a reply from a few people, my mind is still very much open to alternatives.
My budget is £600 for front and rear. Hope to have ordered some within a couple of weeks.
Once I have a order placed I'll sell my Hagon rear on here, great shock. Was going to keep it and get oem front refurb, but it could cost up to £150 for a refurb, on what mct suspension called 'the cheapest of cheap shocks, about £15 worth!'
Cheers,
Rich

Re: Wilbers ecoline
I've finally dug out some back emails. I considered an Ecoline for my 100RS mono rear shock but went for a 630 (back in 2013). IIRC the WIlburs rep I spoke to reckoned Ecoline would be OK, but if you wanted to get an improved and more tunable response over the OEM unit, the 630 was worth the extra. HTH! James
Re: Wilbers ecoline
Hi James,
Thanks for that.
Today I rang Mike capon the shock factory. Was a great conversation, with the owner, designer and maker of the brand. He came across really well, for example, he worked for emc, his shocks are raced at the tt in sidecars, and has over 30 years suspension and road racing experience.
He said very confidently that his shocks are among the very best road shocks, comparing them to the likes of nitron. I have placed a order for front and rear, he is going to make them up for me and despatch within 48 hours!
Also another huge plus is the servicing, he said he never really gets any back, but if I require a service they would only be €40 plus shipping each! That cannot be beaten!
Price for the pair was £550 delivered.
Will post review once received, but maybe a while before a ride report.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Wilbers ecoline
I have the Wilbers 643 fitted to the rear of my BCR..
Spring Preload
Compression Hi/Low
Rebound Damping
Ride height adjustment
Hydraulic Preload Adjustment
My last R1100s had same Wilbers front and rear, but thought I'd try rear only, letting telelever front do it's thing (after reading a post by Chris Canning)..works awesome.

Sit rep,
Shocks received within 6 days of order, and didn't take payment until they had been built and packaged! First impressions are really good. The quality and precision of the shocks is superb, the weight and way the compression/rebound adjustment works is very satisfying.
Fitted to the bike with no glitches, and is set up to my weight/ riding style out the box, however I can adjust (and probably will) with ease.
Yet to ride, but when I do I will provide accurate feedback. But on my experience so far, I personally would highly recommend anyone who wants top top end road shocks for their BMW, to try this guy.
Is a venture away from the mainstream (wilbers, nitron, hyperpro, ohlins etc) but I have full confidence that these are as good, if not better. And a huge saving price wise, and a fully personalised service (you deal with the owner and builder of your shock!)

Hope this helps someone in the same situation I was in,

Re: Shock factory by Mike capon
Hi Mitch,
Compression and rebound are both adjusted simultaneously via the turn wheel on the shock.
Cheers,
Rich

Re: Shock factory by Mike capon
Look nice, I just wonder if as well as brand name, the separate oil/gas reservoirs on the Wilbers for instance makes a big difference?
Re: Shock factory by Mike capon
Hi,
It has a separate gas cylinder inside. This helps the performance of the shock when it's working hard.
Has a very very similar construction to nitron I believe, not sure if the wilbers equivalent has a separate cylinder
Cheers

They certainly look good! Be interesting to hear how they perform.
