This inside of the fairing on my R1100RS has holes, into which are inserted threaded brass cylinders, that are rough edged in order to form a captive, friction fit.
Screws then bolt through the fairing subrame, into these brass cylinders, securing the faring into place.
The problem is that when re fitting my fairing after having it repainted, three of these fittings just started spinning, with hardly any torque applied.
BMW don't list them as a part, and in any case, new one's would do the same.
So I am wondering if there is some sort of compound that could be injected into the holes, and then threaded when dry.
Any idea's gratefully received.

I've used this stuff with great results - http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints ... etal-560ml. Me and a mate built a soapbox racer a couple of years ago for a local charity event (Thunderbird 2!) and used the stuff for much like what you need - easy to work, very strong when set and, like the blurb on the tin says, it can be tapped just like metal. There's probably other similar stuff available, and no doubt Halfords isn't necessarily the cheapest place to buy it from!

Hope you get it sorted.

You could probably just wick in waterthin CA (superglue) around the metal inserts to adhere them to the plastic

Thanks for the input chaps.
I had a chat with a local mechanic I sometimes use today, and he's got some inserts that may work.
