Found this photograph on my wife's camera. It's from April 2015 and is me setting off from North Bucks. for the Spanish Pyrenees. Fortunately I didn't have to wear the rucksack either way - I managed to offload it. The bike didn't miss a beat through rain, sun and a bit of snow.

Jeez, that`s a lot of kit for a solo ride. Looks very uncomfortable.

Yes I was a bit concerned at that point - I really didn't want to take the rucksack, but it had a few things in it that I needed at the destination. Once I got rid of the rucksack to someone who was driving down and had room in their boot, it was fine. The bike handled really well and I didn't notice the luggage while moving.

Only once was I careless about where I parked, and couldn't lift the bike off its side stand because of the slope (legs too short), but fortunately got a hand get going. Didn't make that mistake twice.

Went on the Tiger 800 last year and needed the tailpack and top box, but no tank bag or rucksack.

I used to advised my daughter as she went out with her friends, "have fun, but not too much fun". Your experience with Burn up Tours all these years ago - that sounds like it was verging on 'too much fun'.

It was totally mental, we had to meet in the car park at Calais.
The bloke leading the group gave us a chat about how we would be using the drop off marker system and how he would be cruising at only 100mph on the motorway and we would be leaving at J10. I think the only time we were doing 100 was up the slip road. I was glad I had a blade and could keep up, we must be doing between 140 150 all the bloody way.

A Gixxer landed in a tree on the way to hotel in Germany after a lack of control pulling a wheelie. Couple bikes got smashed on the ring, one bloke went home in a air ambulance.

When you come across an accident on the ring you have to stop. My mate was following this bloke who lost control and slid off. he stopped to assist and his bike was hit from behind by the ring doctor's (don't laff) car skidding on the grass stopping to attend to the crashed rider.

It was mental, but as I was young(ish) it was BRILLIANT........

Don't think burn-up exist any more, wonder why?

Back in 1991 somewhere in France ,before buying camping chairs ,snorkles and goggles... Found the rack welds had snapped once we got home it did had adverse handling around long fast sweeping corners though.
