Post by bfisher »

I think i'm up against it here but does anyone know if any of the courier's will transport a battery - i think i'm against the dangerous goods act unfortunately!

Done it several times in the past.
Battery has sent dry with liquid in separate sealed bottles.

Even had 5 litres of bio ethanol posted to me for our fire

Motobatt units from the likes of Busters etc......

They are sealed batteries and require no special precautions (not even sure if they require warning stickers)

Lead-acid (non sealed) are usually supplied charged, but dry. The electrolyte is in separate plastic tubes.

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

I had to return a duff, 'activated' one to Tayna a while ago. They advised me to label it as a 'dry accumulator' for whichever courier I used, so as not to cause any 'we're all going to die if we transport a battery' overreaction. I used Hermes, no problems at all. 'Battery' is on their 'excluded' list, 'dry accumulator' isn't!

Dorsetboy (Mike) is the battery expert, though. :)

Thanks for all the responses..

I failed to get one & didn't attempt the suggest 'dry accumulator' as knowing my luck i would get found out :(

Anyhow, if anyone wants a cheap motobatt (pickup @ Bath) check out:

PS - i opted to just go for the exide OEM replacement @ tayna as not wanting to spend extra on the pc680 (or the wesco (which they recommended)).
