I was reminded of an incident in Nottingham back in the mid-1970s, when I was driving up Sherwood Rise. A lorry came out of a side street without slowing, went straight across in front of me and off down the side street opposite.

As I sat there uttering a few choice words, and thinking what a close call I'd just had, the driver came running out of the side street, yelling "stop for f@&£ sake, stop!". Like his lorry, without pausing to look, he ran across the road and off down the side street opposite.

I don't know if he persuaded his lorry to stop before it caused mayhem- but probably not.

This particular video geared towards the swearing is mildly amusing because of that but what I find sad about it and others that depict apalling driving, lack of attention and aggression on the roads is the sense of entitlement that so many people these days appear to have. A case of 'screw you, I'll do whatever I want'. The general behaviour of road users is (I think) disgraceful and only getting worse. This behaviour of course is is not just the road user but people in general. I live in a major city so there shall be more of it but I must have in excess of 20 people a year just step into the road in front of me when I'm driving. They'll be crossing a junction or walking straight off the pavement at a Corner as traffic turns into it, headphones on totally oblivious and when they get tooted or told to look before stepping out in front of a ton and a half of moving metal and plastic; rather than accept that they've nearly died they'll want to scream and shout and tell you that it's your responsibility to look out for them stepping into the road or they'll want to fight you in the street. I dare say that those same people that meander around expecting other people to be responsible for them are the same type of people that we see in so many of these 'accident' videos. A lot of these self important drivers and pedestrians are lucky to be alive but shall never comprehend that. Many times I could have killed a pedestrian over the last year if I hadn't been 'on the ball' and with quick reactions. Someone who Is interested in a car just for for transport/is old and less observant/slower to react/distracted by the kids in the back seat would have run over at least five of the people that I managed to avoid last year. It's a similar story on the roads. Mere seconds would have made catastrophic differences to the outcome of some of those situations on this video. Like I say, I find it a bit sad.

Don't beat around the bush, f90x, say what you mean...

I tend to agree with what you say. And I think this 'screw you' attitude extends to many other areas of life, such as the scumbags who fly tip in our beautiful village. Or go to a beauty-spot and leave all their trash lying around (in fact leave rubbish anywhere). That's my big bugbear and, I think, another symptom of the same 'screw you' problem.

In general I agree fully with what you say.

In my own experience as a police man in South Africa , as things went down hill and general law and order started falling apart , we saw more and more of this type of driving.

In the last 11 years here in UK I'm seeing the same thing here , there are no more roving police cars ....

In the past, driving like a twat was definitely going to see you nicked , sooner or later .

However , these days the chances are so remote , every one just goes ahead and breaks the law, to the point where they believe its their right to drive with aggression and the go "f###k yourself" attitude .

Sad .

Plenty of people - really playing the odds..........

They won't learn, until they actually get T-boned or Head-on'd and they or their kids get maimed or killed........

You'd like to think that they would realise that they had "dodged a bullet" and change their driving habits, but some invariably require a hospital stay or a funeral to bring it home..........

I agree there are some right nobbers on the road

Worryingly there exists a very large percentage of uninsured drivers out there.

No Tax No Mot and no care about others. No roving Police cars, an ever expanding population, illegal immigrants.

No forwarding address to send the nip to.

Amazingly the politicians are quiet about this. It will get worse. The uninsured driver thing has to be addressed it is not sufficient just to load all our premiums to compensate for these assholes and that is the politicians I am talking about. Fcxking Wxnkers.

You're right Al. What really gets my goat is the abuse you get back from someone that has done a dodgy move

I nearly hit a car trying to beat me into an exit on the blind side of the truck - a young girl, she pulled into the same filling station as me. I stopped her and said you realise you just nearly got squashed? Her reply was "yeah but I didn't". How do you reply to that?
