So my 2nd post in night & again a shock related..

So i remember reading about this a while back.. don't think it was on this forum but why are Wilbers about £100 (or europe for that matter) cheaper in Germany than here? I recall that hte UK market is governed by a single distributor or are we blaming the tax man for this? I've only posted this as i know a few queries re shocks in last few days & hence thought i would post it up to get clarity & perhaps direct those that want Wilbers to a more direct or rather cheaper route to purchase....

I'm afraid it's quite common with German goods, where the manufacturer appoints an official UK importer. Touratech are prime examples where they charge a significantly higher price than from their outlet in Germany.

Because we are mug enough to pay it. Like so many things in Britain.

Local distributor get the UK franchise and tries to make as much out of it as possible in the shortest possible time.

Vote with your feet. That said, I am as guilty as the next man for paying over the odds for imported stuff

Out of interest, can you buy direct easily from Germany? If so, it makes no sense unless the UK distributor can justify £x of added value...

Mind you, I think all my Wilbers searches led to UK sites, and ultimately to the one distributor so knowing no better I was simply led to the UK. I'm sure I've bought Wunderlicht direct, also some ebay spares which came from a very professional German reseller and excellent value.

And there's that Italian brake disc specialist... Maybe our outlook is just too insular and that's what supports UK distributors?
