New PVM Wheels..

My new-to-me PVM's arrived today. In great condition after the trip across the pond from Canadia :D

Many Thanks to Chayko (Pelican Parts) who could not have been more helpful when faced with a babbling Englishman suffering from 'ohcrapIjusthavetohavethose-itis' with a side affection of 'shiny-syndrome'.

I can't be happier with them - its common knowledge that lighter wheels are an easy performance gain but I could have never have justified the cost of new ones. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time (virtually speaking) and secured this secondhand set for considerably less than the price of a new set. They are in great condition, the tyres look in good condition and even though they are not what I normally run, I'll give then a try anyway before fitting a new set of SuperCorsas. I'm really looking forward to getting them on the BCR and seeing the difference at the track..

Now, the delicious debate concerning the paint colour of of the front wheel can begin. I'm tempted to leave it white, but have already been assured that this would be a cock-up of monumental proportions and that it should be made to be Pacific Blue 2 immediately.

All comments/opinions/general abuse on the subject gratefully received..

White (with suitable rim-tape) would be my choice for the immediate future at least.

One of the best-looking bikes I ever saw - was this R-1 14b Anniversary - with all-white wheels.

You will be astounded by the difference light wheels - make to the bike.

Have fun!

Thats Nice!

You raise another relevent point: Rim tapes.

I have them on the OEM wheels. They were on when I bought it years ago and never took them off. I kind of like them even though some day's i think they are a little juvenile. Only some days though:

first thing to ask is are they magnesium? if so leave them as they are as it's very difficult ( i.e. expensive) to paint mags.
if they're aluminium then i'd go for 2 different colours

Leave 'em white, looks cool.
My old GSXR 1000 track day bike had white Dymags and with carbon disc carriers as well was noticably easier to flick through esses and track day rubber lasted longer.

White (with blue rim tape of course) would look cool, but then so would the front in Pacific Blue with white rim tape. Oh, I just dunno :?

I would leave them white; at least in the first instance. Try it for the life of a front tyre and see what you think. Yes, the blue front looks great in the standard colour scheme but these aren't standard and they look better than the standard wheels as well.

I like the idea that the bike looks standard to the untrained eye. Only when you look a bit closer do you notice the bling.

Nice purchase!
I had a set on the mongrel r1100s I built. Make a noticeable difference in handling.
Don't bother painting the wheel, they look good as is. Save the money to spend on something useful like tyres or fuel!!!

I think they look crap but I'm feeling generous so would take them off your hands and maybe give you a little money
