Or the thing that tells you which gear you are in and whether you are in Neutral - This switch lives onthe back of the box and is hideously expensive (£122). Mine got so bad it was taking 5 minutes to get a neutral light up so I could start the engine (R1200ST) . i bought one last year and when I fitted a replacemnt gearbox in Kanuary I trie dto fit teh switch supplied y a yorkshire basedc supplier - When I did mange to get it onto the wee shaft that sticks out o fthe box it was all wrong the switch only gave neutral when it was so far out of wack that I could not bolt it up. I ended up actually breaking the damn thing - so no money back. So had to re-fit the old slightly dodgy one. This has finally given up. So this time I called those helpful folks in Devon (Sherlocks) Where I discussed the problem witha gent;leman who knew all about these - there are 4 apparently all with teh same part number. Some have plug sockets onm them some have wire tails and some have facility for D shaped input shaft and some hav efacility for T shaped input shafts. Turns out teh one I had been sent previously was wrong on all counts hence why I busted it. Sherlocks sent me the right one.
Despite being able to plainly see the switch and it only being held in-place by two bolts it took 2.5 hours to fit - because you have to get the bloody swing arm out of the feckin way to fit it. I did not remove the swing arm completly but slid it down the drive shaft as far as it would go. What palarver.
But now I get a green light every time and it's great

There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity
