Zard exhaust

Post by brokenwasp »

Anyone have or experience of a Zard exhaust? any good? quality product?
Personally I love the look of them and they seem relatively cheap, also there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice if you want to go noisy unless you want to go the Akrapovic route. I don't have that kind of disposable.

There are owners on here with both the Zard and Akra. I have the latter and love it. Removabel DB killers and an infectious pop and bang on closed throttle :D

But, if you want more power I have been informed that less restrictive down pipes are the answer, and there are several different types.

But, they route differently and do not work with the Ilmberger carbon belly pan - which was fitted to mine when I bought it and looks very nice IMHO.

HillTop Remap is another route to extra power - google it and read up ( other search engines and indeed remaps are available)

Ahh, winter tyre kicking via the web is good fun, no ?

Before someone else says it if you use the search function you can find threads on this stuff on this forum.

I have the standard exhaust fitted to mine, but I lovpe the look of the Akra. Second choice for me would be the lasers as fitted to Roloo's 1200, but I don't know if they have a UK importer.

Dont get me wrong, I'd love a full system but my budget can't stretch that far at the minute. Again theres not much choice for headers unless your going the Akra route.
Just not loving the look and sound of the standard to be honest.

Mine has been on for approx 6 years, bought second hand in excellent condition ( there very rare used, I was lucky) they are made by ex Termignoli prome hence the 999 look, very well made without a removable baffle but mated to decatted headers a nice sound and no probe with the law as fully stamped for compliance. Remus do a twin pipe tail pipe but not overly good looking imho, there are a few other makes but Hens teeth and rocking horse poo are easier to find.

I've not had any tuning done although a Rexxer remap would probably be the best route, I've installed the Accelerator module from these people http://www.sol2.be/ gives a nice throttle response and very good MPG.

Makes sense I thought they had a 999 look.

Best value headers are probably by Remus, not sure of the exact price but in the region of £400-500

Yes,
I've just looked at the Remus website and the headers for the 12s are no longer listed, so ebay and crossed fingers I'm afraid :(

Update
But you could try here

It's all looking a bit thin on the ground, I'll keep my eyes open.

Personally my favourite is the Zard over the Akra's but If they were available in the UK I think I'd like the Lazers. I think the Zards are better quality than the Akra's and better looking t'boot. I've also seen the lacquer come off the carbon on the Akra's. Even though the DB killers don't remove on the Zard they are a good volume and have a nice overrun. I wouldn't want them any louder tbh. I was fortunate enough to get mine used with only 400 miles on them for just over £400 about three years ago. I run mine with a PC111 but I'm toying with ditching it and getting a Rexxer remap. Retail is/was £600+. One can still get them new for about £500 I think. Mine and Phil's are the only ones I know of that were bought used. I think you'll have a long wait going the used route.

Found the £500 ones from Italy on eBay

Why not find out a bit more about this one?

viewtopic.php?t=20225

For a lot of people - it's about "brand" - and Akra, Alpinstars, Dainese etc figure high on the list - for that reason, but I reckon when it comes to end-cans there is little to distinguish them on performance.

That leaves aesthetics and quality of build, and the Zard certainly appears to be high up on that table.

Twin Lasers might turn up occasionally - but not seen any for a long time.

If I picked up a Zard could I add headers at a later date? By that I mean do the after market headers have a standardised mid connection. If you get what I mean.
