Final drive plug
Ok I've finally got round to it and emptied the final drive on the 1200S.I was expecting the plug to have a magnet but there isn't one although it's recessed as if meant to have one there .The oil at 19000 kms is not bad.I was expecting something horrible but it's ok.A 10 mn job so far.
Update.Oil
240ccs of oil came out. This is certainly the amount put in at the factory because I bought the bike with 3000kms on.So is everyone sure about the 180ccs of oill that the final drive is supposed to take? It's quite a lot less than there was there!!

Re: Update.Oil
180cc is correct. There was a service bulletin from BMW on this.1200boxer wrote:240ccs of oil came out. This is certainly the amount put in at the factory because I bought the bike with 3000kms on.So is everyone sure about the 180ccs of oill that the final drive is supposed to take? Re: Update.Oil
Yes - I changed mine in Agust 2013 and the oil seal's been weeping ever since (it was weeping oil before i changed the oil) and I've covered 15k miles since then - New oil seal going in this winter.1200boxer wrote:240ccs of oil came out. This is certainly the amount put in at the factory because I bought the bike with 3000kms on.So is everyone sure about the 180ccs of oill that the final drive is supposed to take? There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity
