To be honest what did it for me was the fwd car understeering. THey all do it by design and the idiot authorities still allow them on the road and there are so many of them ... rant over...be safe...

Your point being that's the excuse for the car being on your side of the unbroken lines on a blind bend?

Perhaps it's a reason in a lot of cases, but it's plain intentional dangerous driving. A poor driver being the victim of chronic under steer would find themselves at the outer extremes of the bend radius mid corner and therefore well away from the lines. For another to intentionally volunteer to account for the effects of under steer by using your piece of road on a blind bend is dangerous.

It can't be excused.

That's how I see it.

Hi Corvus,

Not really. My opinion is that the standard of driving on the road in general has become so lax that many people do not understand the basics of car handling dynamics as you so described. Even driving a car I have been made to alter my line therrough a bend on numerous occasions due to this type of driving and the problem exists over here in Switzerland also; so it is no just a UK issue. When we have cars putting so much power through the front wheels alone these days I think the issue is now more acute and when riding our bikes something that may catch us out more frequently than we would like to consider.
As far as I am aware when we hear a report of a 'head on collision' few are when one car is completely over the 'other side' of the road; more often the contact is 'offsid to offside' to just beyond the usual headlight location, this is what also gives each car its 'turning moment' and means the cars can end up in some strange locations when travelling at speed.
I drive RWD and quattro in UK (one with 50:50 weight distribution) and bought a cheap little fwd over here. Coming down alpine passes I find this little 'under powered' fwd my leat favourite for these roads. Down hill the front weight bias, front wheels doing steering, breaking & power I feel is just too much. If it was a car with some 200 bhp I just think it would be an even worse receipe...... but as I said lets all ride carefull and come home safe no matter what we encounter.

It's pure laziness. The driver would rather cut the corner than make the effort to steer around it properly and considerately. Near here, the A5012 out of Cromford is famous for this sort of behaviour from cars and trucks.
