You're probably thinking of Mike B. He had the stunning KH750 plus other nice machines of that era.

Not sure if he is around anymore. I think he sold off his BMW.

Did you mean a Kawasaki expert who was old, or an expert in old Kawasakis?

old model kwacks, i should have made myself clearer. its just some one is selling a 1976 z900 a4 with a best offer over 3.9k. it has a 4 into 1 on but says it fetches over 7k with a 4 into 4 fitted.

the OEM 4-4's are rare and expensive, I guess there replicas available maybe. I seem to recall the OEM pipes being £1000 per pipe on the microfiche.

The A4 is not as "desirable" as the actual Z1's (despite in reality there being very little to separate them).

I had an A4. Steve is right, they are not as desirable but now a good z1a can fetch £16k prices are climbing rapidly for the A4 and lesser models like the z650.

I paid 3k for mine about 12 years ago and I sold it 2 years later for exactly what I paid.

Mine was fitted with a Marshal 4 into 1. Good quality replica exhausts cost about £1000. Almost every part is now available as a good quality reproduction, but the costs add up. Depending on condition £3.9k does not sound too far out of the ball park, but beware people selling lightly tarted up dogs for high prices.

Here is my old one.

The trouble with a classic in middling condition is that they cost a bomb.

Mine had the wrong shocks, wrong exhaust the paint was slightly the wrong shade, clocks needed refurb etc etc.

Every time I opened the garage door it cost me £300 and still it was never quite right.

And as pretty as it was, it was pretty rubbish by modern standards. Similar performance to a modern 500 and the braking performance of a supertanker.
