NEW R1200S PISSHEAD ?

Post by BOB »

Has anyone heard if BmW are thinking of producing a new R 1100s with the new 1200 pisshead motor ? GS has it , RT has it , is BmW going to produce a new S . Or is the S1000R going to be our option ?

Comes up in discussion on the forums occasionally but the consensus seems to be that there will be no replacement for the 1200s.

It was a poor performer sales wise.

With the R90T, the upcoming F1000 (hit with the bland stick) and a couple other new models thinking from BMW would be that we have enough choice already.

Talking to one of the Triumph management team, it would seem that market research indicates that there is very limited demand for sporty, sports tourers. I guess BMW are finding the same. Hence no direct replacements for bikes like the 12s and 1050 Sprint.

Kwak and Honda would seem to think otherwise.

The R90t is a nice bike , but not a long distance 2 up kilomuncher . A 4 cyl is just not the same . No worries , my R1100s only has 80 k on it , will last a looong time still .

There was this concept by Nicolas Petit in 2012. What a pity it didn't get the nod... I think it's just breathtaking!

I want a BMW "Multistrada"..........

with

1) Telelever suspension at the front
2) Watercooled boxer-twin engine with 130bhp minimum
3) 17" alloy wheels with at least a 180 rear tyre.
4) Ability to hang BMW or aftermarket square panniers.

(I'd also like to be able to shoehorn a 1200 LC engine into a BoxerCup Replika........ :D

Al :D
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

Sounds good to me. :)

There was an R 9-T up at Willingham Woods a few weeks ago, so naturally I had a good look at it. Being honest, I thought it looked really poor - ok a few fancy bits (brakes/forks) here and there but for the price they're charging it's a rip-off.

Yeah, that looks VERY similar to the Petit concept.

Us mere mortals would like a budget fitting version of that please BMW.
