someone tell me why I shouldn't be considering replacing the Funduro with either an F700GS or F800GS that BMW have on offer at £99 a month? :)

I guess it comes down to whether you want one and whether you can afford it?

Presumably there is a deposit and balloon payment as well as the £99?

Personally I hate those finance deals as they seem to have a way of trapping you into a new vehicle every few years, as its very hard to find the final payment when the time comes.

True, but I just see it as a way of deferring the cost. The wonderful CSA have "finally" stopped taking money from me so rather than get used to the additional finance I was thinking of using it for this. The deposit would be covered by me selling my Funduro.

Then in 3 years time I can decide whether to punt the 800 in for a new one or refinance it to finish paying it off.

My current commuter, the Funduro is a 98 so it'd be nice to have something newer :)

Well the offer makes it look affordable, but that will cost you £4367 for the F700GS over three years before you take into account servicing etc, I start to think " what else could i buy for that money, and still own it after 3 years?"

Mrs Big Rob & I recently 'signed-up' to a similar deal being offered by Honda, 'renting' one of those NC750X thingies (keep your comments to yourselves please, we have valid reasons for doing so  )
anyway, back to the point; £99 per month is hardly gonna break the bank so why not have a spangly new bike?

Just incase anyone is interested, the Honda NC750X does exactly what is says on the tin (70+mpg); 2 Days last week I took it to Aberdeen & back, 130- mile round trip, 2nd day I rode home via Banchory & up'n'over Cairn O'Mount in lashing rain, by the time I got home I was soaked through to me undies but was still grinning like an idiot  that's what motorcycling is all about. OOPS sorry, thread hijack

If you wanna new Bike Steve, then go on and treat yourself, life's too short.
Rob.

With my recent dealings with BMW, I'd be keeping hold of the funduro.

Does the same job, but costs less, and can be fixed for much less.... After a few trips back to the dealer for warranty issues and a few services, you'd wish you'd kept the old bike...

Just my opinion though! :)

See where you're coming from Steve with that "CSA thing" - gives you 3 years to save for the balloon payment. Not sure what I'd do. I have some necessary expenditure so no new bike this year but probably a new second hand bike coming tho

I met some girls in Romania last month, who made quite a bit from selling their "Funduros"

Just saw the offer on the R1200R - made me chuckle when BMW state 'comes with left and right panniers'.

That's nice of them.

How will it handle those mountain man winters you get, and what sort of mileage do you do on the F650 , I see a contract mileage of 15k mentioned with excess per mile charge and I think the bike has to be in "good condition" if you opt out after 3 years?
