Hello all! As the title says really I'm based near Bath & pick up my 1999 R1100s later this week.

Looking forward to the whole boxer experience & hopefully picking up a few do's & don't from members on here.

Hi. Are you keeping the superlight?

Pics would be nice (we have a section for other bikes). The superlight is one of my all time favourites, and prices are starting to climb now. I went to check one out in Sheffield, but the dealer wanted 6k and it was not in top condition.

The closest I got was my modified 750ss, but should have got the 900 when I could afford one.

Hi Jim, yes the superlight is a keeper :D I've seen that £6k one on Ebay a few times, the prices are climbing, but not that much!

I have a big trip round France planned for next summer & I don't want to take the superlight, so I saw it as an kit-buying opportunity hence the R1100s!

The 7500SS is the nicer engine. A little less power, but better 'balanced'. Hard to fully explain it, but it just feels nicer.

Also has a wet clutch, as opposed to the dry clutch of the 900.

I didn't ride mine at all this year - need to get it in for a cam belt service and MOT over the winter.

Welcome!

Not a million miles away from the South Wales 'Taffia'... and just about on my work territory.

Mine had some very desirable mods and I sold it for a song. The under slung rear caliper hanger was as rare as rocking horse poo apparently. I still look at pics of it now and kick myself.

Sorry to hijack your intro thread IanB.

I do find it intriguing that there are people out there who suffer the same BMW / Ducati perversion as I do.

Chronic non-harley beemerducosis: sometimes responds to psychotropic medications allied with intensive cognative aversion therapy. Unfortunately there is no treatment or hope for those with the harley strain (sorry Dai).
