My R1200S came fitted with a Remus aftermarket silencer (not complete system) which looks and sounds awesome.
As far as I can see, nothing else has been added or changed, so I'm assuming the bike is otherwise running on it's stock settings.
I'm hoping there may be some boffins on this forum who can tell me if this is going to be OK in the long term for my bike.
My understading is that a more open exhaust causes the efi to run the mixture rich, which in turn can cause problems for the exhaust valves.
Is this the case, or (as another opinion goes), does the system automatically compensate for these changes.
I really don't want to get involved in mucking around with the factory settings, and would rather buy a stock silencer.
In fact I am debating weather or not to do that anyway, so if anyone has one, and is interested in an exchange for a Remus in good nick, let me know.

I honestly don't think there is any need.

If you have a standard air filter you shouold be reet.

Its generally when you modify breathing both in and out you run into problems as the bike will run LEAN when on its open loop strategy. As I do not believe there is a MAF sensor.

It is this that is bad for valves etc as the lean mixture burns slower and can cause valve damage.

I am sure someone with more intimate knowlege of the 12 will be along soon (I have an 11) But I really would not worry.

Cant remember any reported problems caused by just changing the cans.
In the past there have been issues where failures have occurred that may be due to mods to the induct side of the motor and remapping of the management system.
Go for a ride then check the plugs, still the best mixture check IMO. I suspect the engine management is coping well with the Remus.

A very sound policy. And perfectly appropriate for the circumstances.

There a 2 ways to tune the bike.

1, Piggyback ECU, Power Commander and the like. Will be a box somewhere near the main ECU.

2, Reflashed ECU with custom map. No way to tell this is loaded unless you can interrogate the ECU.
