I'm considering selling my very low mileage (13000Km) R1200S.I haven't had the time to ride it lately and to be honest I could use the proceeds to correct a few assymmetries in my finances. It'll be mourned but that's life.
The bike is in the Algarve,Portugal.would it make sense to advertise it in the UK?

Yes, but you would need to do some research into the cost of bringing it back to the Uk and re-registering etc and allow for it in your sale price, unless you get lucky and someone fancies the trip back on it.
Be careful, the cost of 1st class has gone up recently and some neighbours would not want to take in a package that size if it needs signing for..

It will be road legal as it's a european bike, the issue being headlamp and speedo but the readouts can be changed from KMS to miles by a dealer, or someone clever with a computer.JamesL wrote:Depending on budget, I guess you could advertise it anywhere? And a web ad does just that?
Might be worth checking it's road legal outside Portugal, eg in Blighty if you think someone might want to import it back here.
the issue for anyone wanting to ride it back would be insurance, how would you insure it for someone else to ride back to Blighty? it would be very difficult to find an insurance company to cover that. I've imported a couple of UK bikes into Italy, paper trail for that one is pretty major! getting them into the UK isn't too bad though..
you would do better trying to sell it in Portugal, not a lot of money around though eh...
