So i've had the bike for about 4000 miles and it's great but for one thing. that bloody horrible eccentric throttle arrangement. now, i know it has been talked about before but the conversation has just fizzled out and i really need to get a fix for this otherwise it shall have to go. my right wrist is a bit week and i cannot handle a whole day out on the bike having to wind the throttle around at least a third more than any other bike that i have ever owned as by the end of the day i am in a great deal of pain and almost unable to ride home. This is a big problem as i can do 400+ miles in a day on the 1100 with no discomfort. I know that Gus is looking into a fix but I also remember someone on here telling about a BMW dealer who took some bits out of his throttle bodies and making the throttle action much shorter. (i've searched like crazy but cannot find the post) If i can get this done then the bike stays as apart from this it is a cracking bit of kit. If i can't then it goes. Anyone got any info?

I never did understand that mod, but I can't see it doing anything much, as it does not remove the eccentric.

Stunning looking bike the Griso, especially with a nice aftermarket exhaust.

There are options to either remove the cam or fit a short pull throttle, but no one here, or on Pelican seems to have fitted them.

You could be the guinea pig?

Herb has provided a link to the same product I was trying to order from somewhere else. Bonus is , that's cheaper. I will speak to some tuners in Germany the weekend and see what they are doing or using. If good I will order the part this weekend and see what's what.

THAT'S IT!!! i'm working in Paris until the middle of April so i won't order the bits until you know what's what Gus as i can't get near my bike until then and i don't want to drop £50 on it, have it sitting dormant and then find it doesn't work two months later. i look forward to the results.

i just can't live with it herb. if this doesn't work it really will have to go. i was in agony coming back from wales last year. this will mean i keep it for at least another year if not more. i do fancy those griso's though

I found this on my last bike (street triple) and was an easy fix swapping the throttle tube from another bike in the range (speed triple 1050). This new from the triumph dealer was £9 and was swapped in 5 minutes.

Anybody know if another BMW doesn't use the ecentric throttle say the GS or R and it could be possible to swap them over??

(Typical tight scots and mind at work!!!!)

I have not been able to find out for sure but I think the eccentric is in the splitter box. So modifications at the throttle may shorten the travel but you will still have the non linear throttle, so the device linked to is probably best for F90x and the bike will behave as BMW intended, albeit with a quick action throttle.

I have read before that the megamoto has the same arrangement of throttle cables etc, unlike the standard GS, as the 1200s but without the eccentric. Hence if you can live with the throttle rotation but not the non linearity, this may be the route to investigate.

I fitted one of these a few months ago having had one on my previous BMW K1300S. Expensive but transforms it. No second bite of the throttle now needed to get it fully open. On smooth movement.

Do follow the instructions fully though or it won't work. You have to cut off a small bit of your throttle tube to let it sit properly but it is all in the instructions.

Wouldn't be without it!

Splitter has nothing to do: the (ugly and pointless) eccentric is in the TB's "pulley" thing (2 things actually).

Make a small test: knee near by the right TB and twist slowly the throttle: observe how the cable push/pull motion is translated into a "not linear" rotational action on your butterfly: these things are not moving (i.e. rotating) at all at first and then start following your input. German sense of humor that one ? (or a total ignorance about what a sports bike is).

But this mod mentioned is better than nothing.

Of course the ultimate solution is to fabricate a proper linear action TB "pulley" (not exactly cheap that one).
