What I did today

1) Took wheels off and had new rubber put on, checked bearings and refitted.
2) Put new brake pads in front and rear
3) Changed poly v belt
4) Adjusted tappets
5) Changed final drive oil
6) Changed gearbox oil
7 Changed engine oil

Had fun and games putting rubber bung back in Tdc window, pushed too hard and it fell inside. So took starter motor off got a long thin screwdriver with blue tac on the end and managed to get the bung out (thank f**k).

So a long and fruitful day and the bike is fully serviced.

I have a rubber bung in among my clutch i now have a round gromit siliconed over the hole

Nearly forgot what i did today,
Made excuse to go up to the garage put a mica window in my woodburner [home made] then sat infront of it for a few hours while Ann got the vacume out in the house [how i hate the sound of that thing]

Glad someone else has done the rubber bung trick, lol. I had to get it out as I thought it would bugger my clutch up. Seems I wasted my time.

No, it wouldn't damage your clutch, its only a bit of rubber.

bit of a stupid idea from what i can see.

I use a technique i found somewhere or the internet. stab it with a bradawl or similar to hold it till you get it in.

What I did today!

Spent ages grafting in some new handlebar switchgear to a moto guzzi wiring loom.

The main problem being most left hand switchgear has nine wires, the guzzi has twelve wires leading to it.

Sorted it in the end after a bit of head-scratching

I put mine in with Reactive in York for a front and rear rebuild on the Hyperpro's. Expecting a "all new bike" when I get it back

What I did today? (yesterday actualy). Well I've got so fed-up with getting cold hands this winter I decided to do something about it. Even with heated grips my palms are warm but now the thermometer has started hovering around zero (And that's before 'wind-chill' is factored in

)the tops/back of my hands still get really cold. I knoooow, I know; I should get on tinternet and order up some muffs but I just don't like the restriction/look/cost of 'em.

So, just for something to do, yesterday I dropped into the local J-MART and bought a polythene bin for £4.99, made a cardboard patern, borrowed a heat gun and set to work....

Full-lock clearance.

Alright, I know the 'nay-sayers' and 'piss-takers' will be on my case as soon as I post but a test ride proved these cheap-as-chips handguards 'work' very well. They can be on and off in 5 mins. Even though I've incorporated the bins original strenghtening ribs they are slightly flexible in the for-and-aft plane so an unexpected bonus is that up 60(ish) mph the slipstream pushes them back an inch or so from their full-lock clearance position where they settle more solidly on the indicator 'pods'. Ergo, they give good wind protection but move forward again as speed decreases.

Granted, they do look a bit, SUDDEN but I've just found some imitation sticky-backed CF sheet in the shed so..... watch this space

Nice ! I might try that myself ,( can i get a mandarin bucket

) although I went the muff route , got some heavy end of line ones for £15 .

Today /yeserday I finally stripped the paint from my vfr wheels....

When i was dispatching i made muffs from plastic oil cans bl00dy great they were on all year i could ride with thin unlined gloves winter or summer [nothing worse than trying to put on lined gloves when wet and the lining has pulled out 20 or 30 times a day]

Yesterday I had my suspension set up at reactive in York. Made a big difference although I can't say how much because every time I came out of a corner with my new found confidence the rear span up.

Hopefully as temperatures rise again I will be able to really test the changes.
