I am after another battery maintainer, having sold an oxford optimiser that was surplus to requirement I then promptly dropped a perfectly good optimate 2 on to garage floor and knackered it up
Now not long ago i paid £39.00 inc p+p for an optimate 4 but having just checked out prices on Ebay and Amazon I am

to see how much these things have gone up in price I would like any feedback on the less expensive ones that are on offer good or bad?

Buy the Optimate. You won't look back.

£36 - delivered.
Brand new - with Honda livery - just the job.

And it ain't an Optimate 3 - it looks to be a 5?
You won't get much cheaper - even for a used one

I bought a cheapy from lidl a few years ago, i think i paid about a fiver for it the trike has been on it for a few years now, if and when the bike goes into the garage the bike will be on it for a week then the trike for a week,
Well worth keeping an eye out for one it does 2-6-12 volts
The trike has a ford CVH lump in it and has a lazy starter motor the battery on it is 7 year old and starts it just fine
The only downside is it plugs into the socket direct and the battery leads could be longer
Hope this helps Dai

I've used these sort of smart chargers and found them ok , Lidl/aldi do a similar version and I haven't heard any complaints about them

Christ! steady on I have already bought her a Hilti wet/dry diamond coring drill
I have decided to get the Ring RSC4 for our car as it is now off road for winter and the Honda badged optimate looks the right price for maintaining my bcr battery.
Very happy with Ring products, have one of their mains tyre inflators- will inflate new tyres on my bike rims in no time and saves a fortune on air at filling stations for our vehicles.
Was having a mooch at Lidl thisafter plenty of "usefull items" to be had but no maintainers

That's the exact one that I've got....bought from lidl's about 5 years ago and still going strong!! The humbug is hooked up to it just now!!!
I don't think there is a "bad" trickle charger sold these days so pay your money and make your choice!!!

At that price even if you get a couple of winters out of it that must be value. I bought the Honda one and the ring one. All three batteries are now been maintained, wish i could get charged up these awful dark dour nights
