Okay as the title says - Selling a bike in the UK to someone in Northern Ireland. I've had an offer from someone in Northern Ireland for my V-Strom (which is getting sold to make way for a R1100S) they want to know how I'd like to get paid and then they'll arrange collection of the bike.
Now obviously I don't want to wave goodbye to the bike only to find the deals going down the drain leaving me with no money and no bike.
So any advise, help, hints or tips would be appreciated.

Think we've got a recent new member who is in (or used to be in) the Constabulary do we not? Some pointers?
Personally I'd get an address I could check out, google maps etc, and take cash or wait for a cheque to clear before delivering,
Not everyone's a crooked c@*t, you get a fair amount of protection through PayPal these days, Last time I sold a bike I went to a bank with the buyer and we paid £10 for an instant cash transfer, No hassle and very quick.
Don't accept any email, however official looking, as payment confirmation.

At least the buyer isn't a Nigerian Prince offering many millions in respectful compliance of assistance with family fortune dispersal

We once sold our MX5 with payment via Internet banking. The buyer had seen and test drove the car so maybe not as your scenario, but at one point we had 12.5K and the car.
If both you and the buyer have Internet banking he could set you up on his side then when he comes to purchase then all he would have to do is transfer the money.

I'm puzzled. Why would selling to someone from Northern Ireland be any different to selling to someone from any other part of the UK?

How many people purchase vehicles privately and get them collected without viewing themselves?

Accepting a transfer that has been credited to your account is not a guarantee that the money will stay there. If the sender has hoodwinked the sending bank then they have several days to claw the money back out of your account. Cash is king!

I did that with my R-1. Obviously - you have to have a bit of trust in the vendor, and also the delivery company.

Oh! I bought a BoxerCup too, paid for it ............. and Dorsetboy collected it and kept it in his garage for me.
