Disaster strikes... maybe

Hello,
I think there is a problem with my bike and I hope you can advise please?
I wanted to set my bike to Stage 3 and carefully looked at the diagram sent by BBPower. For stage 3 it has pins 2 and 6 shorted. (as you look at the bike from the left, thats bottom centre (2) to middle left (6).
When I turned on the bike, the fuel pump was running all the time and the bike wont start. I have also tried this again with no pins connected and the same happens.
Can you advise please?

Is this the first time you've tried running the bike with the new chip? If yes then you've got the chip in the wrong way round, rotate it 180 degrees.

no malc it ws running fine at stage 2 (no [pins)... when i set the jumpers tp stage 3 it died (switched off at the time)

Is the chip the right one? There are two chips for different releases of the Motronic. Is the jumper wire broken? Other than that it might be an email to BBPower.

Hi,
Yes Ive emailed BBPower, as they sent me the instructions for the jumpers settings for my bike (2002 None twin spark).
Im pretty sutre its the right chip... i tried it with the jumper set and the fuel pump just kept going... even when i disconnected the battery and removed the jumper completely. As soon as i put the original chip back in it was ok...
Looks like my chip is dead to me...

I've got mixed feelings about the chip anyway. After my well documented experiences with melting pistons I reckon the way to go is standard chip and the fuel pressure regulator from the K.

really? Is that what you have?
I run lennies, k and n filter, y piece, laser end can.... do you think that would do me?
I ride it pretty hard... worried about fuelling at the top end, as I though K12 regulator mainly provided fuel lower down?

Good, I need all the help I can get with this. I cant afford a new chip really, so if a regulator does the trick i'll be very very happy.
Are they a bugger to fit or quite easy?

Easy to fit if you don't have ABS. The K 12 reg provides a blanket 8% more fuel across the entire rev range. Not necessarily the most accurate way to add fuel but seems to work pretty well.

And a proper pain in the 'arris if you have. I took one look and said..well it rhymes with 'chuck hat'
Seems the pressure reg, although like Stempy says not the most subtle way of doing things, does do the business pretty well. They're only about 30 quid so why not give it a try?? Lob it in and get a run on a dyno to check your rear end gases. Must be worth a shot.

would a K12 suffice?
Sorry if it's obvious... just dont want to break my motor.
Also is there anything else you wuld suggest doing please?
(in terms of balancing the mods i have)

Only the usual throttle body balance (and valve clearances if you've done a few miles) and wait for the power commander to arrive in the spring. I can't comment on the BB chip since the Vanderlinde comes with its own chip but I still erred on the side of caution after getting more air in with lennies/k&n and chucked a k12 regulator in the mix as well.
As Richard suggests this is not a straightforward task if you have ABS (hoick.......spit)

I'm seriously thinking of junking the ABS - ripping the system out and installing some braided lines. Today, yet again the bloody thing tried to kill me - wasn't even braking particularly hard but the sudden surge of the cut in/let go of brakes pas de deux then unloading already tired suspension wasn't particularly amusing.
