So is there a quick way to boost power on the Rs1100?

I'm trying to read between the lines here as there seems to be all sorts of opinion...but are any of the available chips any good? I don't think I would choose any of the other options.

Anybody out there with personal experience?

Best way to boost power is to buy a more powerful bike.

There isn't a quick way to get 100hp,and there isn't a cheap way either!!!.

Keep the throttle nailed open, and let the handling keep the speed up.

Mine's got Vanderlinde exhaust (no cat and comes with a chip) and heads modded by a BM Dealer (£500). Dyno proves 8 to 10 bhp at the wheel, throughout the rev range.

The power increase is noticeable when thrashed & the cans make it sound superb.....the best on the market (well they were, I think they're not made any more).

What work did you have done to the heads that cost £500. Got to agree the Vanerline does sound nice.

Chris, mr mutley said he had some head work, maybe the cylinder was rebored to a 1300cc????

I'd like to know what sort of 'head job' a BM dealer can do. It's all most of them can do to fit the right spark plug

The bright dealers take the job and then sub it out to someone like Mr Hackett who knows what they are doing, then bolt it back together and claim the credit and add their bit to the bill. Next time I'm in Northampton I'll see if I can find out who did the job

Of course if your lucky enough to know a good engine tuner he'll tell you one of the worse engines to benefit from a head job is a BM why?? cuz the head castings are so good in the first place.

True statement Chris, many moons past I presented a pair of heads from an air cooled BM to a guy who specialised in gas flowing for the racing fraternity who said much the same thing port angles swirl function is all spot on the only thing he could mod was to knife edge the valve guide castings but this was of very negligeable benefit.

It has to be said that BMW give good head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
