The strip down the middle is an LED daytime riding light (according to the BMW guy at the show).

I have to say that when I saw it in the flesh I was slightly disappointed - the quality did not seem to be as good as in the past.

Also, whilst my local dealer was saying that bikes would be in the showrooms by March, the staff at the show were quoting May/June.

May/June - that's half way through next year !
I'd be really surprised if that were the case. I know its good to build anticipation but you can go too far

Was speaking to a good m8 today who's demo'd the new R12r, he thought the bike was fantastic, the model had ESA2 and mated to the conventional forks worked really well, just waiting for him to get one so I can ride it lol, he's got plenty of Beemer bike experience and I would rate his judgement very highly.

Whenever is a new model treated anything but optimistically?
(apart from Buells) fastrack 4 years from now and this bike may be unloved . £11k for a base model boxer? I do not think so. Worth £6k after two years of ownership imho.

Ok for the pcp boys.

Makes the Hp2s look cheap. Do the arithmetic.

Looks pretty nice.

Don't really see the issue about having telescopic forks as long as they are decent ones. From a packaging perspective, telelever is a pretty inefficient way to get all the required bits and bobs into a bike, especially with radiators and big airboxes.

Not sure I'd ever buy a new bike, give it 5 years or so.
