complete change of mind.

Just to let you all know that I have changed my mind about the two up sporty/adventure class bikes that I thought we would be satisfied with.

Fact is after looking carefully (viewing) the Tracers Crossrunners and Tiger Sports models nothing was urging me to commit.

Liking the new retro range and branding from Triumph, Ducati Bmw and Guzzi I started perusing naked muscle,retro bikes that would be suited to two up touring.

Then I saw a very nice Rockster for sale, mint in fact. as it turned out the dealer and I could not agree on a deal otherwise I would have had it.

I then happened across a very distinctive Italian in the shape of the Guzzi Griso. The 1200 8 valve motor in particular. Ok it is not a light bike and that contradicts completely my intentions of last year.

I am going to look at two this Thursday. Anybody had one? Comments would be appreciated if you have owned one.

like the look of the Griso, a friend of a friend bought a stelvio and hated it as he said there wasn't the expected torque from a large v twin, reckoned it had to be thrashed to find any go? Apparently the older two valve head engine has more torque

I had a Griso for a year, nice bike however long and slow steering. Mine had problems with the valve gear which was not uncommon in the earlier versions of the 1200. Build quality poor and the dealers are a bit old school in the south, hopefully better in your neck of the woods.

I've always liked the Griso, I reckon it'd make a great base for a cafe racer.
Never ridden one though, which, I'm led to believe is vital.

Thanks Tom, That valve/cam issue is well documented on Guzzi Forums and I am fully aware of it; I will not be buying one unless evidence of the recall process is provided. It has effected bikes running around on 12 plates which I find concerning. Even if these engines are of early 08 manufacture it makes you wonder why the issue has not been addressed before they were sold.

More concerning is the idea that fresh batches of the engine made in 2011 are still blighted by the same issue :? Regards the handling, it`s an upright ride for two up touring and it gets very good reviews ,,,for what it is.

Never heard of poor build quality issues though with this bike. I am to look at an early 08 bike and an 11 plate.

If it dont feel right I will not commit. Amanda has to be happy with pillion comfort to.
