Yes... well...
It's been off the road for about the last year. I recently got it MOT'd and back on the road due to the accidental sale of my Fazer, but today the rear shock spat the contents of the damper out and so it'll be off again for a few weeks when that gets rebuilt.
Its a 2000 model and presently has just shy of 145k on the clock. The engine seems nice and tight still - certainly sounds better than my 36k GS that sounds like the big ends are going when it gets hot - but it's on its 2nd gearbox (Julians old box since about 120k) and diff (again off Julians old bike) since the original self destructed about 18 months ago.
Handles like a space hopper just at the moment though

My 99 model had 44k km on the odo when I bought it, now thousand or so from the race track, but I don't know how many because the dash has been replaced with just a tach.
no changes to the engine in that time, but the final drive was swapped out with one with shorter gearing, and there have been significant home made work to the induction and exhaust.

If enough is enough and more is better than too much should be just about right.

is there a website about the trip?
Yep - like Chris said, I went round the world on it in 2002. Did about 32k in 3 months.
If you want to waste a load of your life you can read all the stuff here
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/eastleighsc/ ... eworld.htm
(I just noticed that the last Morocco section is missing - I'll have to fix that)
It had about 65k on when I came back but I do quite a bit of mileage anyway - maybe 25-30k a year on the bikes, but that is split over 2 or 3 bikes.
The S also went back to the states and did New York->Vancouver->New York (about 8k in 2 weeks I think) and it's been all over Europe including out to the Black sea and round the Bulkans, through Serbia and the like etc. She's been round the Nurburgring too and has generally had a whale of a time of some of the most beautiful roads in the world... lucky thing.
Lucky for me I had to go along too to look after her

Already voted on mine but left no comments....
Bought it July 07 with 9980 on the clock from Vines. It had 2 previous owners the first being a BMW press bike... so it got a good lashing from the journos I suspect.
It now has 13800 on it now and is in Spain. I will import it officially but it will be back to the UK at least once a year.
I suspect I will end up on GS/A .. as the first 3km of my ride in whatever direction is pretty rough and a bit hairy on the B 20's. But this will not be for a couple of years yet... Love the bike and may use the other bikes I have to trade in for the GS.... thereby keeping both. This could be hard financially.. But I live in hope.
Points to notice from this poll..... the common items like parrallever bearings, splines, AND the use of synthetic oils.... that will open a CoW.
I will definitely read Jasons trip thread as really that is one of my retirement promises to myself.... I will travel more. Unfortunately Gordon Brown did his best to fuck up my pensions, so this will not be so easy now.

Jason M..... Just read your travels... brilliant .... I am also reading Chris Scott at the moment.. although there was not so much "bottie" talk in his book.
What an excellent read... I do not know what you do in your "normal" life but have you considered being a travel journo .... absolutely great. Have you done any trips since??
A pleasure to read and quite inspiring.
Thanks
Stuart

In working life I'm a sad software engineer for a big American company. At least that means that I can take sabaticals like the 3 months for my RTW trip.
As for other travels, well I've been coast to coast to coast (NY-Vancouver->NY) on the S, all over Europe including out to the Black sea through the old Bulkan countries and the like then down into Africa and to Timbuktu last January on my GSA - my blog of that trip is here
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/eastleighsc/tbt.htm
if you want to waste even more of your life reading

Next up... dunno... me and a mate want to do the Iron Butt in 2009 (11k in 11 consecutive days

I just love to travel.... I'd rather spend all my cash on memories than something that sits in a cupboard
