I thought he was going for an R-1?
I don't remember too many/any purchasers of an R1100s - discarding them, but perhaps others know more about the bikes before purchase?

The CBR definitely fills the slot. More in tune with what I want. Cheaper, faster, better riding position, lighter. It's not a flat twin with easy peasy lemon squeazy maintenance, thats the only negative.
I should have test rode for longer before I bought. That is why I got rid of it so fast. Great bikes, if you accept the drawbacks of such an idiosyncratic design, and don't want anything too fast.
