Please excuse previous alzheimers moment.
Rolly Beaumont flew the TSR2 from Scotland to Wales very quickly, not the Lightning.
I should proof read my own work.

Pt.2 well worth watching and a nice bit of Vaughan Williams 3 in places as the accompanying music. Particularly enjoyed the VC10 - done many hours on these (not as many as Sandbar though) and love this aircraft. Doing a rapid take off in a mostly-empty Firm's K4 is a great experience...and it's still the greatest sounding airliner ever imho.

Vc10 on full chat and then going up at a rapid rate of knots . Oh yes sir!
I do believe Nigel had some fun flying those great airliners.

Indeed - the howl/whine of 4xRR Conways is proper goosebump material. And to top it all, probably the most beautiful airliner
ever made (except Concorde of course).
On one of the Firm's VC10's on the way to RAF Akrotiri...

You can Google Folland Midge for more facts.
Hmmm, I think some secretary must have mis-heared 'Folland Gnat' at a pre-show briefing and typed 'Follom Meek' on the commentators 'crib sheet'

For aircrew, or anyone who ever dreamed of being one, the following blog is great reading.

Apparently a blog for ex test pilots.

when my daughter was 6 (so 14 years ago), after years of fighting for access, we finally had our first holiday together. It had to be in Wales so we spent the week in Anglesey. One day we went to Caernarfon Airport (airport is a grand title for one bumby piece of tarmac and a few buildings).
There were pleasure flights offered so off we went around Snowdon etc. I was in the rear seats and Lianne was in the front with the pilot. Part way through he let her take control (!) and the plane did up and down and banked left and right (under his direction) ... which has to be one of the coolest things as a 6 year old !
After the bumpy landing while walking back to the car I was buzzing and chatting with Lianne said "wasn't that great" ... the reply a cursory... "it was ok" I'd have had more reaction if I'd said lets go for a happy meal

.... kids (or perhaps it's not a girl thing?)

Sometimes, the seeds we plant 'take'

and sometimes they don't.

Could you not have photoshopped Kate Middleton or Michelle Obama into the pic? - that would have been really impressive

Perhaps we should have a poll as there seems to be a lot of ex (apart from Gromit ,light)blue suits on here, more than the other two services put together?
Had actually forgot you sat backwards on a 10!. I think I did more miles on a Herc, normally on rear party picking up broken tornado`s.

Since we are notionally a motorbike site, I feel obliged to garnish this thread with a picture of this non British application of a jet engine, before we get out interweb licence revoked:
As you were
(is there a part 3 planned featuring Concorde?)
