The 12 is a bike which a lot of people out in the big bad world of motorcycledom clearly didn't 'get'. Most of us in Boxerland did of course because we know what a great roadbike the 1100 was. The 12 was a very well-sorted evolution of it, lack of luggage/pillion provision notwithstanding.

Exactly - leading to few of those purchasers (of an already low uptake) - selling :D

But - if I was considering an R1200s - I would be casting glances over my shoulder at the RC8 and 848.

I'm not really aux fais with the 848 and RC8 - do they really go for similar money? What's their reliability record like? Useable as roadbikes?

It was a surprise to me too - until Boxerscott pointed it out to us all....

I think the RC8 especially is road-useable, and they are both thumping twins like the BMW.

Neither are pillion-ponies, but neither is the S. Sure - neither will wear panniers like the R1200s - but still do-able?

I put the modified 1100s on stands and sold some of the bits of it. The 1200s is big leap forward in terms of performance. With a few choice modifications it really is a very capable sports boxer engined bike. Get one. You will NOT be disapointed. Also saying a BCR is iconic is stretching the realms of ones imagination.
