Before you do the RapidBike thingy you really need to do this. Tweaking the ecu first, then doing a sort of piggy-back like a Power Commander (not CanBus bikes) or a RapidBike is the way to go.

Ecu Upgrade

DS Motorsport site

These are apparently the people who did the ecu work for the PowerCup racers. K1200 guys talk in hushed terms of about 22 more hp  if you combine this with a RapidBike and a good setting up session on a dyno. The ecu upgrade on its own does not need any dyno work.

1) you thought of selling the 1200s ?
2) I thought you were smitten by it since new??
3) so - how much did the new ECU cost?
4) don't you have environmental checks in Holland that would require the llamda sensors to be working??
5) not too impressed with the tape around the plug to the ECU though
6) I'm always a bit worried by the smell of petrol from a road bike
7) But - glad to hear that you see a real improvement, which should bring a grin back to your face & cracking pics as usual
1) yep ! If I want to go out on the S my son likes to come with me ; and when I go out on the RT, Jeannet likes to come with me. So I thought, sell both, and buy a 1200RT back ; something like the best of both worlds ?!
2) still am...; but see #1...
3) please grab your seat : 525 Euros (with installing)
4) no ; only on cars 8)
5) the tape is there just to make sure the plug may not come loose. All the plugs have such a 'click' system ; but, just to make sure...
6) if you burn something ; you have to smell something...
7) even when not on the bike ; I still have this grin...& thanx !
Have a nice day !

PBBoxer wrote:...did they give any info on power increase or read out on whether the bike is running rich / lean? What does this box do exactly?...
...no ; no info on power increase. And honestly I doubt if there will be a serious power increase. The RapidBike box eliminates the flat spots/dips you see on a standard torque/power curve. By eliminating these spots, the engine runs much, much smoother, and feels much stronger…

…it is hard to explain on paper (or on a screen…) ; but the engine feels so very different from before. As if it is running on a good set of carburetors, so very smooth (and powerful)…

…I know ; 525 Euros is a lot of money, and maybe far to much (Van Harten has to make a living also…), but it comes with warranty, it was all installed by a pro…

…I saw this mechanic at work ; and I don’t think I would have done this job, without any help, by myself…
…there is a lot of wiring (spaghetti-style) ; and they are all black…

Like I said, $280 or 210 euro + shipping from the USA...

Granted, easy for me since I do everything myself, but I don't like being taken in the ass by greedy resellers.

Really sorry for you Paul. Did they swipe the TDM too or do at least still have a bike?

Ok
Now Im back on a 1200s its time to look at this again
Ive been in touch with the local RapidBike distributor and they tell me only the RapidBike3 is available here, however i fancy the 3 anyway as the local dynoman seems to think a combination of fuelling and ignition tweaks will give the best result.
£400 quid for the box and 200 for dyno time, ouch.
Where is that bloody link to the USA site again hehe.

The bike is running well at present and loosening up nicely  , but the engine surges and hesitates compared to the original bike I had. Im unsure whether this is a characteristic of the different zaust system or just the bike itself (probably bike), but I am going to have a go with this magic little box to see what happens.

Email sent to the States :)
